Frunze Mine focuses at mining and processing of rich iron ores. The Mine was a component of Frunze Mine Administration of Industrial Association "KryvbasRuda"; in 1988 due to liquidation of Frunze Mine Administration the Mine became a part of Party Congress Mine Aministration and since 1992 the Mine has been a part of PJSC Evraz Sukha Balka (Dry Beam).
In the ore field of the Mine a deposit of rich iron-ore has been mined open-cast since the year of 1885, when Novorosiyske Society opened its own mineries (Yuziv and Belokrysovskyi ones). In 1886 there were extracted 1,3 million poods (21 thousand 294 tons) of iron ore. In 1925 the Mine Administration got its present name - Frunze Mine.
Construction of mines began in 1929. During 1959-1962 the modern Frunze mine was built.
Now, on the territory of the mine there are situated some important industrial objects: operating Frunze Mine, a crush-sorting factory, electromechanics and other workshops, 3 ventilation shafts. It produces sintering ores.
Production capacity is 1,05 million tons of sintering ore per year. Designed capacity of the Mine is 1,7 million tons of rich ore. Mining takes place in the central part of Saksagan ore stripe. Martite and martite-magnetite ores are mined. Ore balance reserves are 61,8 million tons of 58,3% Fe.
Frunze Mine is developing disconnected stratum, pillared and nested ore bodies of a length ranging from 110 to 600 m, the capacity ranges from 8 to 25 m, and angle of incidence is 55-72º. Top wall is lined with martite, and the lying-wall is lined with hematite quartzites.
The deposit is exposed with ore lifting and ventilation shafts. The mine is equipped with skip hoisting plant comprising two skips of 25 tons weigh and a cage hoist. Mining system: surface-chamber, subsurface-chamber and subsurface rockfalling with ore breaking by means of deep drills.
Ore deposits are being worked out on horizons of 985-1135 m. Deposits are explored to the depth of 500 m.
In July, 2011 ore extraction at a new horizon of 1135 meters was started. Project quality of ore is confessed as a very high one - iron content is 61,88%.
